New Technology Integrates Order Processing From Web Browser to Shipping Dock

Saratoga, California - April 23, 1996 - Information Dynamics today announced Web eXpress^TM -- a comprehensive order processing and fulfillment system for Internet World Wide Web storefronts.

Web eXpress consists of an Application Programming Interface (API) for Warehouse eXpress^®, Information Dynamics' full-featured material control system for real-time inventory control of a warehouse or distribution center.

"Currently available products merely capture the customer order information and forward it to the merchant via email, or put it in a database. Web eXpress completely integrates the merchant's Web storefront with their distribution system -- providing real time information on inventory position, pricing, and order status. If the Warehouse eXpress Radio Data Terminal option is in use, it is indeed possible for the customer's order to be being picked in the warehouse before they even log off."

Web eXpress allows the merchant to:

• Create a storefront on the World Wide Web from a centralized database containing product (SKU) information -- including narrative descriptions, images, and pricing.

• Confirm product availability to the customer, in real-time, based upon the actual warehouse inventory.

• Reserve inventory for the customer, based upon the actual inventory on hand.

• Capture the customer's order in a centralized order database.

• Automatically generate pick tasks for the customer order, in the merchant's warehouse, in real time.

• Allow the customer to backorder one or more items, if desired.

• Allow the customer to inquire about the status of their order, at any time, via their web browser.

Warehouse eXpress and Web eXpress are offered on Sun Microsystems, Hewlett Packard, Intel x86/Pentium, IBM PowerPC, and other UNIX based platforms.
